We start this week with news from the international game,?where the Uruguayan FA confirmed that former Leeds United manager?Marcelo Bielsa?has?been appointed as their new head coach.?Bielsa, who has been out of work since leaving Leeds in February 2022, takes his third job in international management – he has?previously coached his native?Argentina?and Chile?–?and has singed a contract until 2026.

A typically busy week in the English Football League?saw Cardiff City part with head coach Sabri Lamouchi. The former?Nottingham Forest?and Rennes manager had only been in charge for four months, but he successfully guided them to Championship?safety and leaves?the club looking for their third permanent manager in six months. Elsewhere, Port Vale confirmed the appointment of Andy Crosby as their new manager. Crosby had been serving as Port Vale’s interim coach following the sacking of?Darrell Clarke?last month, but has now been given the job on a permanent basis. Recently relegated Forest Green Rovers have appointed Allan Steele,?most recently the technical lead for?Brentford?B, as?their new director of football. In?Scotland, meanwhile, former?Bolton?and?Blackburn?manager Owen Coyle stepped down from his role as manager of Scottish Championship side Queen’s Park after their promotion bid failed in the playoffs.

In the Premier League,?Liverpool?loans manager David Woodfine will be joining outgoing sporting director Julian Ward in departing the club this summer. Meanwhile, despite reports heavily linking him to a job at?Aston Villa, Mateu Alemany is now set to remain at?Barcelona?as director of football. One man who will be leaving the Catalan giants this summer, however, is sporting director?Jordi Cruyff?– the son of the great?Johan Cruyff?is departing to seek new challenges after two years in the role.

Finally, in the Bundesliga,?Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed that head coach Oliver Glasner would be leaving the club at the end of the season – a year before his current contract expires. Despite currently sitting eighth in the league, Glasner led Frankfurt to a memorable?Europa League win?in his debut season, while also taking them to the Champions League last 16 and?DFB cup final this season.
