CVC Receives Generous Grant from the Foxwynd Foundation DAF to Support Their 24/7 Services
The Crime Victims' Center of Chester County, Inc.
Bringing Healing and Hope to Chester County
West Chester, PA — We are thrilled to announce that the Foxwynd Foundation Donor Advised Fund has generously awarded The Crime Victims' Center of Chester County, Inc a grant of $50,000. This funding will support our victim advocates, 24/7 hotline and in person accompaniment, and specialized training for local nurses to become Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) trained.
On the award, Pamela Villagra, Foxwynd Foundation Donor Advised Fund Executive Director shared "The Bentley family is proud to support The Crime Victims' Center of Chester County with this grant, as we recognize the critical need for resources that empower survivors of violence. Our commitment to enhancing community well-being aligns with CVC's mission to provide compassionate care and support to those in crisis." ??
The grant will directly impact our ability to provide immediate assistance to victims of violence. The SANE training for local nurses is particularly vital, as it ensures that medical professionals are equipped to handle sensitive situations with care and expertise and that the evidence collected will be admissible in court.? Currently, there is a shortage of SANE trained nurses both in Chester County and across the Commonwealth.
SANE training equips nurses with specialized skills to provide comprehensive care for survivors of sexual assault. These nurses play a crucial role in the healthcare system, as they not only offer medical treatment but also emotional support to victims during a traumatic time. Through their training, SANEs learn to conduct forensic examinations, collect and preserve evidence, and provide critical documentation that can be vital in legal proceedings. They work alongside CVC Victim Advocates who connect patients with necessary resources and support services they need.
“Before Foxwynd, we did not have a specific funding source for SANE trainings, now, with their support, we can provide this specialized training to local nurses who can provide services to our clients and the County,” said Christine Zaccarelli, CEO at CVC.? ?“We hope to leverage this funding to emphasize the importance of having a SANE trained nurse and bring additional training opportunities to Chester County healthcare professionals.”
