CVB’s Major Conferences Generate $1.6 Million, Boost Local Economy

The City of McAllen has long been renowned for its rich cultural heritage, vibrant community, and captivating attractions. Behind the scenes, the McAllen Chamber Tourism Department Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has been playing a pivotal role in propelling the city’s economic growth.

In June, the CVB successfully hosted three major conferences: the County and District Clerk’s Association of Texas’ 128th Annual Summer Conference, State Firefighters and Fire Marshal’s Association’s 2023 Annual Conference and the Delta Kappa Gamma’s 94th TSO Convention 2023. These events generated an estimated economic impact of $1,649,375 and attracted 1,575 attendees, solidifying McAllen’s status as a premier destination for business and leisure travelers alike.

The impact of hosting large conventions goes far beyond the immediate influx of visitors. The economic ripple effect is substantial and positively affects multiple sectors within the community. Hotels, restaurants, transportation services, and retail establishments experience increased patronage, leading to heightened revenue and job creation.

In addition, the Tourism department offers a comprehensive range of services to meeting planners, ensuring a seamless and successful event experience.
