Cutting the ribbon on the holiday shipping season!
Just in time for what we all expect to be another outstanding peak shipping season, customers, government officials and local community members joined FedEx Ground this past week in celebrating the opening of new facilities in Arlington, Texas, and Gaithersburg, Maryland. Combined, these two operations represent 620,000 square feet of package processing power and employ more than 500 team members. They also support dozens of local service provider businesses that employ hundreds of their own drivers, managers, helpers and other staff.
And speaking of the holiday season, we know that more and more customers are ordering larger items online such as TVs, mattresses, and furniture, especially during the holidays, which is why we are adding large package capabilities in both of these facilities.
As part of these celebrations, we were proud to donate $5,000 each to local nonprofit organizations making a difference in these two communities. Equipment Connections for Children in Gaithersburg connects costly adaptive equipment from children with disabilities who outgrow the equipment to other children in need. Arlington Charities helps stabilize families, individuals and the homeless by providing immediate, temporary assistance during times of critical need.
The Arlington and Gaithersburg stations are just the latest additions to what we believe is the nimblest and most efficient ground network in the shipping industry – one uniquely capable of offering residential delivery service seven days a week while safely and efficiently handling a growing influx of large packages.
The holidays are just around the corner, and FedEx Ground is poised to use its unmatched assets to deliver joy throughout the season!
