With the use of Husqvarna power cutters, the father-son duo of Concrete Connection LTD in Long Island, New York cut concrete for egress windows and basement entrances.
Richard Tufariello and his son, Andrew Tufariello, have used a wide range Husqvarna power cutters over the years, and have great success using the Husqvarna K 760 Cut-n-Break for deep cuts. While many contractors prefer the use of larger machinery to make deep cuts, the operators at Concrete Connection LTD make cuts up to 16" deep on both sides of a concrete foundation using the Cut-n-Break method.
Andrew shares information about a recent project using the Cut-n-Break method, "We've tackled cutting a full 32" deep with the K 760 cut-n-break where other contractors would have come in with major cutting equipment. Using the K 760 cut-n-break, with the cut-n-break method, we were able to minimize cost and pass those savings onto our customer."
The Cut-n-Break method allows the operator to cut in stages through walls up to 16" in depth. Each cut can be up to 2.5" deep and .75" wide, forming a core from the cutter's twin blades. The core can easily be broken off using the accompanying breaking tool. Once the core has been broken off, continue cuts until the ideal depth is reached (maximum 16" from one side).

From using the K 760 Cut-n-Break over the last five years, the Turfariello's see the power cutter as a crucial tool for their work. "We've heard that other contactors don't prefer the cut-n-break saw and I believe that comes down to poor maintenance and inexperience. I run the cut-n-break with zero issues and have used the same saw for two years for over 150 projects involving egress window and basement entrances. I make sure the belt and screws are tight, and the saw runs without issue. An absolute game changer. The saw feels like a literal extension of my body."
The K 760 Cut-n-Break is a natural choice when you need to cut deep without overcutting at the corners. The two high-speed blades make a core in the saw cut, which is easily broke off with the accompanying breaking tool. Make cuts as deep as 16". Visit husqvarnaconstruction.com to learn more.
