The cutting-edge Fashion Revolution: we thank robots

In an era of rapid technological advancement, the fashion industry is not immune to the winds of change. Robots and artificial intelligence have taken their place on the world’s most popular runways, challenging and transforming traditional ways of working in fashion. Despite the significant progress, we have yet to fully tap into the true potential of robotics in fashion. This gives us an unprecedented opportunity to shape the industry’s future, break new ground, and push the boundaries of creativity. So does our Robotic artist.

Our team of artists and developers taught robotic manipulators to paint, and now they can collaborate with designers to create capsule collections. Is this the future of fashion?

Robots have already created an artistic revolution in the arts. We’ve seen androids discussing painting and inspiration, having their own exhibitions, and robotic manipulators becoming artists’ assistants. Robohood was initially conceived as a robopainting project, but we realized we could do much more over time. For example, we can lead another revolution, but this time in the fashion industry.

Our unique software allows an AI-controlled robotic manipulator to transform any image into an original painting using brushes, oil, or acrylic paints. It can paint on any surface and is the initial inspiration for the Robohood team to create a collection of robopainted clothing.

In collaboration with an artist, Metrica fashion show in Georgia, we showcased the world’s first collection of garments made by AI-based technology. The prints featured in the show were the work of artist Julia Gryoza. She created the sketches, and the robot, with our technology, transferred them to the fabric. This marked a new era of innovation and creativity in fashion. The Robotic artist also appeared on the runway, creating a real-time painting on the garment. The show became a genuinely immersive performance. In the crazy competition within the industry, this is a new way to make a statement.

Fashion shows have always been more than just showing clothes on a runway. That’s why Robohood comes in. Every time designers present a collection, they create a show, a celebration that the audience will remember for years. The use of technology not only helps brands stay relevant but also takes them to a new level to impress a global audience.

In 1996, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé initiated the fashion industry’s relationship with the Internet by organizing the first online fashion show. Now, virtual and augmented reality are part of the mix in the fashion industry. Every season, brands try to surprise the public and draw attention to their collections.

Not to mention the viral Coperni show, where a dress “grew” on supermodel Bella Hadid, becoming indistinguishable from an everyday dress. “Liquid fiber” technology made this possible. When applied to the body, the fibers bond to form the fabric, and the solvent evaporates quickly. This will make fashion more personalized — anyone will sew a T-shirt or dress in minutes.

There has always been an inextricable link between fashion and new technologies. At the end of the 20th century, fashion brands eagerly embraced all progressive innovations as the world confidently stepped onto the rails of the post-industrial technological revolution.

Digital printing has paved the way for print fashion. Giving a glossy and smooth gradient effect, it quickly became an excellent alternative to traditional silkscreen printing. Technology has made designs more colorful and diverse, as fashion designers can create prints for their collections. With the help of 3D printing technology, designers have taken fashion to a new level of conceptual art. 3D printers have helped bring the boldest ideas, from accessories to complete looks.

Smart-cut technology has minimized waste in production. The sewing machine connects to a computer, and the product is created instantly, according to the patterns in the program. These garments are unique and cannot be copied, ensuring that natural resources remain intact.

The fashion business is one of those fields in which it is essential to keep learning and to be open to new trends. As it continues to develop, embracing this technological shift promises a future where innovation and creativity know no bounds. Robots are one of them.

Our Robotic artists could be involved in all stages of the fashion process — from designing clothes and participating in shows to attracting attention in stores. Louis Vuitton has already installed a robot in its shop window. But the public is no longer impressed by flashy mannequins alone. It’s not enough just to show the latest trends; it’s also important to express the brand’s philosophy.

The Robotic artist will help raise the level of the retail stores’ work, offering individual clothing designs and even packaging for each purchase, creating a truly unique and personalized experience for each customer. This is possible thanks to our unique algorithm that prevents the robot from drawing the same image twice. Even when the designer uploads their print sketch into the robot’s program, the manipulator will draw several similar but different images on each garment.

Still, watching a robot create a painting is the highest form of participation in the creative process. The image was in the computer program, and now the robot brings it into the real world. It’s like a relaxing meditation with a touch of magic. The sketch can appear before the shopper's eyes right in the store. You can be sure your customers will remember such an experience for a long time.

Today, many stores have robot assistants stationed in their aisles to interact with customers. The Robotic artist allows them to touch and interact with advanced technology, leaving them with an indelible impression of your brand. It’s something unique that customers won’t find anywhere else.

This is one of many scenarios for using robots in fashion. Developing merchandise and global collaborations online with customers from around the world, improving store interiors, and creating actual paintings with brushes and paints on canvas are all ways of using Robotic artists. Big fashion brands often have exhibitions and galleries where they present unique pieces that introduce customers to their history, mission, and philosophy, and we believe the robot can tell that story.

However, we have yet to explore the potential of artificial intelligence and robotics fully, so now is the time for us to be at the forefront of the fashion revolution with Robohood.
