CUTTING EDGE OR BLEEDING EDGE? How to Master Your Strengths

CUTTING EDGE OR BLEEDING EDGE? How to Master Your Strengths

Sports mirror life, revealing both potential and pitfalls. Specialists like Stephen Curry, Tom Brady, and Lionel Messi dominate their fields with cutting-edge skills, but there is a fine line between the cutting and bleeding edges. Strengths, when mismanaged, can become weaknesses. As Calvin Coolidge said, "Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent."

What about you? Are you sharpening your strengths or letting them slip? Here are five ways to stay on the cutting edge without falling over it:

  1. Avoid Overestimation – Confidence is essential, but overestimating your ability can cost you and those around you. Know your strengths—accurately.
  2. Character Over Talent – Skill may open doors, but character keeps them open. Talent without integrity leads to failure.
  3. Stay HumbleThere’s always a bigger fish. Overstating your strengths invites a reality check. Stay grounded.
  4. Keep Growing – Strengths require maintenance. The moment you stop improving, you start declining.
  5. Share Your Strengths – Your gifts aren’t just for you. Like a candle lighting others, your impact grows when you use your strength to lift others.

Your strengths should elevate, not hinder you. Master them, refine them, and use them wisely. Now—what step will you take today?

Keep on, keepin' on, friends!
