The Cuts

Have you been reading about large organizations cutting their DEI budgets or sometimes their entire team focused on this element of culture??
What is happening here?? Is it happening due to outside pressure?? No true commitment to people?? No results?
Are they saving their DEI decks in a file just in case they need them in the future?
I was afraid of this when my eyes were opened wider during the pandemic and during the social justice unrest that occurred.? I was afraid because I saw how much effort it took to broaden my own individual perspective, let alone a whole organization.
We are working with organizations that believe in belonging and are looking for ways to bring it to life every day.? We focus them first on their values because belonging must live there first and foremost before it can live anywhere else.? Next, we bring leaders and members of ERGs into the conversation through our unique “ways in” that get people comfortable and open to their own experiences and perspectives.
All our work starts in one-on-one moments between people.? We believe strong leaders start there.? We believe strong cultures start there.? We believe strong people start there.? Does that make it easier?? No.? But it makes it tangible and actionable.
I believe making these cuts hurts elsewhere, impacting individual lives and bottom lines.? Isn’t it time to make it a part of life in your organization?? If so, it can start healing even the smallest papercuts that can happen so quickly and hurt the most.? If you are not investing in these moments, then you are not creating the ripples of belonging every culture needs.
I wonder if these organizations will soon be saying – “Ouch.”
