Cut and Paste AI vs Expertise [video]
AI, it's everywhere, isn't it? If you're a marketer, you've probably been bombarded with so much content regarding the latest updates with AI and which SaaS service has added a new widget to their offering — with AI enabled this, that, and the other. Or maybe they're already upgrading to the next level of AI for the widget that they've got for you.
It's an interesting time to be in marketing. That's for sure.
But of course, AI can be used for any business. So, I would be interested in hearing from you — if you're using AI, ChatGPT, let's just say, in your business. How are you using it? What are you using it for? I'd really like to know.
Me, I use ChatGPT and some other AI services. But I don't use them to create content just for the sake of creating content.
I think there's going to come a time, I don't know how long it'll take, but it will become obvious who the cut and paste ChatGPTers are. The ones that aren't going back through reading what has been put out, editing it, changing it.
AI can detect AI.
Google knows AI when it sees it, when it indexes it, when its bots go through it.
Google is all about giving high quality content that's relevant to its searchers. If we're not creating high value content, it doesn't get on page 1 of Google. Well, there are some other things that are going to help it do that, but it's got to be high quality content for Google to up rank it.
ChatGPT gives us the opportunity to just crank out stuff, but we don't want to proliferate junk on the web. Gosh — how many web pages are there right now out there? It's so easy to just add stuff and leave it. But I think that there will be this point in time where folks that are experts at what they do, will really stand out thanks to the aid of ChatGPT.
Think about this. There was a recent court case where a judge got really ticked off with a lawyer who showed up, I think it was for closing arguments, but had cases that he was using, and guess what?
None of those actually ever happened.
I think there were six examples that he cited or gave. I believe that judge has now said that any AI information has to be revealed in his courtroom because he didn't want the same kind of nonsense to be repeated.
We've got to be careful with ChatGPT, or any of these other AI interfacing services, because they do make stuff up. They will fill in the blanks to get you from A to Z that you've asked for.
They will create stuff.
And if you don't have the knowledge to know that it's incorrect, well, that's not very good.
There seems to be this promotion of one-click solutions — ‘Hey! You can just press your mouse one time and create all this stuff. You can create a course with your thumb in 10 seconds using ChatGPT.'
No. You can't.
Not that anyone would want to take, anyway.
ChatGPT for me is great for brainstorming. It gives me ideas that in this vast world of digital marketing, where there's so much to cover — it's like the cereal aisle at Walmart…

You go there, there's so much stuff going on, and you're like, “Oh, what shall I have to eat? My brain hurts.” And it's like that for marketing, and I'm sure whatever industry you're in, it's a similar story.
But AI will really help give you some ideas. That's what I do — not every time with the audio content I create, but it really does help give me some pointers that I can talk about. But, hey, I have to know the stuff that I'm talking about.
So, when will this tipping point be of the proliferation of junk and AI getting some kickback? I don't know.
Will it even happen? Who knows?
Who knows what the next iteration of AI will look like. But this is just a fascinating time to be working online, to have an online business, and we'll just have to see if it becomes more useful for what we do now, or if we're going have to cross our fingers and try and ward back the apocalyptic Skynet scenes that are so common when it comes to AI taking over the world.
So, how are you using AI in your business? I'd love to know.
I asked AI about my thoughts and it gave these Questions to Ponder:
1. How can AI be used to assist in decision-making processes, especially when faced with overwhelming amounts of information?
2. What do you think is the responsibility of businesses and individuals who use AI in their content creation, to ensure that the information generated is accurate and reliable?
3. Are you concerned about the potential negative outcomes of AI development? What precautions, if any, do you think should be taken to mitigate these risks?
4. How do you navigate through the vast amount of information available online and determine what is trustworthy and relevant for your work or personal life?
5. In what ways do you believe AI can enhance the work of human experts, rather than replacing them? Can you provide any examples from your own experiences?
What are your thoughts?
