Are "Cut outs" a fashion trend, or an enormous fad?

According to The Style Bible - that clearly seperates style from fashion - 2014 and 2015 will go down in history as THE year cut outs, lazer cutting in fabrics and dress styles, and A symmetrical lines are more popular than ever.

But...
