Customs officers nab suspected cocaine exporter
In the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, officers from the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) successfully detained a suspected cocaine exporter during routine operations at the Norman Manley International Airport on November 6.
Acting on intelligence and employing advanced screening techniques, the Customs officers identified and apprehended the individual attempting to export a shipment of cocaine concealed in perishables.
This successful operation is a testament to the dedication and vigilance of the JCA in safeguarding the nation’s border and preventing illegal activities that pose a threat to public safety.
Customs CEO/Commissioner, Mrs. Velma Ricketts Walker, stated, “Jamaica Customs remains committed to its mission of ensuring the integrity and security of our borders. Our officers are trained to detect and apprehend individuals involved in illegal activities, and this latest operation reflects ?our determination to combat drug trafficking and protect communities.”
She furthered noted that, collaboration between various law enforcement agencies and Customs underscores the collective effort to curb the illicit drug trade and maintain the safety and security of the nation.
Jamaica Customs will continue to work with other partner agencies to identify potential accomplices or networks associated with this attempted drug export.
