Earlier in the year we published a note/edition, noting the risk of customs code cancellation. At the time we had noted that that non-compliance with the transition to the LRA on-boarding runs the risk of cancellation of existing Customs and Excise registration and licenses in place. Further, we had anticipated that SARS would grant an additional window period to enable last-minute compliance.

Notice of intent to suspend

On 20 September 2023, SARS proceeded to act to put finality on those who are still non-compliant. In this regard, notices of intent to suspend customs registrations for those who are still non-compliant have been issued.
