Customizing Transaction Rules in HCM Experience Design Studio

Previously called HCM Transaction Configurator is now renamed as HCM Experience Design Studio after the release 19D that create rules to configure transactions and pages. One can change sections and fields are that are being displayed, based on the user's role and the employee's business unit or legal employer. Way too interesting, isn't it?

Below mentioned are the changes one can possibly be allowed to make:

  • Control the visibility of regions and sections on the page.
  • Control the visibility for attributes within a page, region, or a section.
  • Change the required status of optional attributes.
  • Control the availability of the questionnaire page for actions that use the guided process design.

You can find 'HCM Experience Design Studio' under 'My Client Group'.

Here is the demonstration of the aforementioned features.

For instance, let's say we want to make the Date of Birth as mandatory field for a Legal Entity named as 'Pike Construction' as they are not mandatory.

As a first step, we would hire an employee and in second step make the field mandatory and perform the same action again to see the visible changes.

Perform the following navigation to make field mandatory:

Navigator >> Configuration >> Sandboxes.

And then, select 'HCM Experience Design Studio' under Tools.

After making the changes, we will 'Save and Close' and publish our sandbox.

Try to hire an employee again in the same legal entity. You would see the Date of Birth field now will be shown as mandatory attribute.

As a result, HCM Experience Design Studio allows us a simple interface to devise new rules based on legal employer, actions, roles, business-unit and other attributes. It is an impressive feature by using which, one can avoid making use of complicated “EL Expression”.
