Customers Are Beginning To Love Oracle Again!

It was a feeling of humbling relief to hear these words twice in a week in different meetings and discussions. Now, don’t get me wrong, customers have always loved Oracle products (especially the world’s #1 Oracle Database, besides others) but they perhaps did not always like the high costs of an Oracle product or dealing with everything else that comes with complex enterprise sales and support.
So, why are customers beginning to love Oracle again?
The world’s best software available in the Cloud at a fraction of the original cost
“It’s the cost, first and foremost”, they say. For example, availability of the Oracle Database in the Cloud now makes it possible for many small and mid-size customers to use it, pay a small, monthly charge based on usage, and completely avoid the need to buy expensive database servers and set them up in costly data centers. The substantial additional cost savings and resilience offered by Oracle Autonomous Database are just icings on the cake.
Consider JASCI, a leading innovator in the warehouse management space, who recently switched to Oracle Cloud and started using Oracle Autonomous Database because they found the value proposition irresistible. See JASCI CEO’s interview.
The best is actually less expensive than the others
Oracle was previously known for the premium, fully-featured, enterprise-class, relatively high-cost software, that everyone wanted but few could afford. Cloud changes this forever. Why wouldn’t you use the best when it is also less expensive? Customers know Oracle has decades of lead in enterprise technologies and that this is not going to change anytime soon. As they "invest" in Oracle technologies to support their current and future business needs, to grow their business and build their brands, customers have nothing but praise for the highly simplified, user-friendly, and cost-effective pricing structures offered by Oracle. See Oracle Bets The Company on Cloud ERP And Self-Driving Database.
In their study documented in a white paper, titled “Workload Migration to the Cloud: Customer Experiences with Oracle Cloud and AWS”, research firm Pique Solutions mentions, “Many customers have found that AWS is more costly than Oracle Cloud for a variety of reasons, the most prevalent one being the cost customers paid to achieve the requisite performance.”
The true enterprise grade vendor in the Cloud
Enterprise customers know Oracle as the true enterprise software company that understands enterprise requirements better than anyone else. After all, Oracle was born as an enterprise company. Enterprise computing is serious business and is in Oracle’s DNA. That is why almost all of the top aerospace and defense companies, the top banks, the top retailers, top automobile companies, top airline reservation companies, pharmaceuticals, and many other mission critical businesses in the world rely on Oracle. See Oracle Fact Sheet.
For all practical purposes, and at the cost of foregoing early market share, Oracle skipped building a first generation cloud and focused on building the second generation “enterprise grade” Cloud, turning the first mover advantage on its head. Oracle’s Gen2 Cloud (second generation cloud) is built for true enterprise needs and is today one of the most advanced Cloud offerings in the world. Discerning customers know this.
It is great to feel loved again! :-)

5 年With so many innovations packed from all those solutions that Oracle brought to its fold in the last decade, I think when clients actually evaluate Oracle Cloud they are presently surprised. Cost is a helpful factor but I think clients tend to like the loosely coupled services oriented architecture, richness of functionality and continuous feed of innovation. No solution would be perfect, certainly not enterprise applications but what you have in Oracle Cloud is leading solution at excellent price point. With a right partner customers can achieve so much more without boiling the ocean as it were in a short period of time. Keeping it simple is the key.
