What is customer stock?

Customer stock, at its core, is inventory that is owned by a customer but stored within your warehouse. It's distinct from your regular stock, which you own and manage.?It should not be valued stock in your own administration, however in SAP EWM you are responsible for the items.

How it can be used?

In a basic scenario, where materials are stocked and moved on behalf of a customer, SAP EWM offers a solution to manage this situation. In a live S/4HANA environment, typically a receipt and an outbound document is needed to manage these inventory transactions.

In the receiving process, a purchase order is created with item category C (Stock provided by cust.), where the vendor equals the customer. When the materials are received in your warehouse with an inbound delivery, the stock is available with stock type B (customer stock) and the owner is the vendor.

In the issuing process, a return purchase order is created. Again, using item category C (Stock provided by cust.) with return item checkbox ticked. After creating an outbound delivery for the return purchase order, during warehouse task creation, EWM takes criteria such as stock usage and owner into account to effectively search for the available stock belonging to this delivery.
