Customer Q&A with Peckham

Peckham, Inc. , a nonprofit organization, provides job training and competitive employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. Peckham successfully launched Omada for Prevention in 2022 to all eligible employees. The employees enrolled in the program this year have seen exciting results.

This collaboration with Omada Health enables Peckham to provide care for their population at risk for chronic diseases. With a meal tracking engagement rate of 6.7 times per week and 228 pounds collectively lost so far, we sat down with Peckham’s Senior Director of HR Operations, Tina Sutterlin, MSW, SPHR , to learn more about how the organization is activating their employees to believe in better health.

Q: Can you tell us a little about Peckham’s population and their risk for developing chronic diseases?

As an organization that primarily serves people with disabilities, nearly 25% of our workforce is living with some sort of physical or medical condition, including chronic illnesses and diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune conditions and more.?

Individuals with disabilities face many inequities as it relates to health care, employment opportunities, and overall integration into society. Many times, they can face multiple diagnoses or health conditions, without access to resources or education on how to make sustainable change. This societal experience can lead to chronic stress that significantly impacts the effects of chronic disease and creates barriers to getting what they need to live whole and healthy lives.?

Q: How did Peckham activate the Omada Health program with employees?

We do our Omada outreach in-house, and activated a multi-channel content strategy, including two flagship email campaigns a year, newsletter features, monthly micro-campaigns, an annual benefit booklet and printed flyers in high-traffic areas. We also included digital promotions on TVs across Peckham locations.

Q: How does Omada Health help drive Peckham’s mission and core values?

Omada’s integrative and customizable method to wellbeing is a philosophy that Peckham shares. We believe in a holistic approach to wellness, one that emphasizes an individual’s physical, social, emotional and financial health. Omada helps provide greater access to tools and education and empowers people to make lasting change. At Peckham, we are also intentional about meeting people where they are and providing tools for those we serve to advocate and take ownership in their own journey to wellness and overall success.??
