Perspectives from my first Autodesk University

Last week, I attended my first?Autodesk University, and it was an wonderful learning experience.?10,000 people joined the event in New Orleans with 30,000 participating virtually.?I spent 4 packed days meeting with customers, partners, and employees, listening to their perspectives:

Here’s what I learned from these conversations:

Customers value our products. Whether speaking with civil engineering or architecture firms, our products improve their productivity in delivering their clients’ desired outcomes.?One of my favorite quotes was from an engineering consultancy firm, who indicated that “using Dynamo is necessary for our business success”.

Customers want better integration. Multiple attendees conveyed the importance of better product integration, across Civil 3D, Revit, and Infraworks, along with other vendors’ software.?Our announcement on Rhino & Revit integration was well received.?

Collaboration is incredibly powerful. Customers using Revit Cloud Worksharing highlighted how it improves their productivity and asked us to further streamline sharing with other companies.?Civil engineering firms want similar capabilities and were excited about our continued investment in Collaboration for Civil 3D.

Performance is paramount. As more companies take advantage of Building Information Models (BIM) and create incredibly detailed designs, the requisite computational processing power has increased accordingly.?This is especially pronounced as more users work in hybrid environments, using laptops instead of desktops.?

I truly believe that “feedback is a gift” and want to thank our customers & partners for being so transparent on where we are doing well and where we can improve.?We’re debriefing this week internally and will factor this feedback into our product priorities and engineering roadmaps.

I’d like to extend a special thanks to Amy Bunszel , Daniel Philbrick , Chris Yanchar , and Thord Backe for going out of their way to connect me with so many customers and partners, that really made #AU2022 a great experience.?

Paulus Eckhardt Jens Miedema We certainly see some points from our meeting reflected in Dan’s impressions. Thanks both for contributing with your broad VolkerWessels team to our conference and providing direction to our product leadership.

I have been attending AU for the last 15 years. My thoughts on this year's event are posted in the following article. I see great opportunities with AU2023. I am already planning to attend. https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/blogs/blogworkflowpage/blog-id/voices-blog/article-id/613?prePageCrumb=BlogUserContributedArticlesPage

Four good key ?? bullet points but I took the paragraph about better integration as the most important to me.
