Customer engagement is about encouraging your customers to interact and share in the experiences you create for them as a business and a brand. They give people something meaningful beyond a sales pitch: a brilliant end-to-end customer experience, great content, or interactive, real-time customer support. Customer engagement is an ongoing interaction between a brand and its customers. It is a process of actively building, nurturing, and managing relationships with customers. This means every communication of a brand is geared towards what customers want from it. Whether it’s a small, medium, or a large organization, every business has something to gain from customer engagement.

A company’s website is often the first touch point for new visitors coming to learn more about its services. It is also the primary resource for existing customers to stay updated on latest developments and updates. A website can make or break the image of the brand. Hence, it’s important to have a website that’s not only attractive visually but also user-friendly and mobile responsive. Apart from standard textual and visual content, interactive content is another way to engage your customers through website. Some examples of interactive content are webinars, surveys, & quizzes.

In addition to your website, social media can and should be used as an extension of your customer engagement strategy. Needless to say, social media is huge today. Billions of people are active on social media networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. Through social media, brands can connect with relevant people, share information, identify consumer’s unanswered questions, research influencers and promote content that will attract consumers! Smartphones are now an integral part of our daily lives. In this context, mobile apps can be very useful for brands to improve their customer engagement and boost revenue. Apps ensure direct communication with customers in various ways. For example, you can create a loyalty program within an app.

If you are not physically interacting with and getting this invaluable insight directly from your clients...in person via a robust buyer persona study, none of (or much less than possible) this customer engagement will occur.

I would not say more important than God but I get your point. This is a timely, very good article. One thing I would add is customer engagement goes beyond a customer interacting with your brand. It is also very much about involving your clients in all phases of marketing....asking for their preferences and thoughts on everything from content topics, how/when they want to be reached, what they think of your ads, why they like you, why they didn't choose you, etc. All of these findings via several in-person meetings (i.e. buyer persona study) 2x/year leads to the customer engagement you write about in your article.
