Tell us a bit more about your firm.?

Korman & Company is a residential real estate law firm with more than 20 years of history. We serve the Ontario market, regularly handling residential real estate transactions, including purchases, sales and refinances.??

We have a team of 15 real estate lawyers and more than 40 support staff who are located across the province.??

We also provide services ancillary to our real estate practice, including corporate and wills & estates services.??

Our firm strives to provide excellent customer service and quality of work, which has been demonstrated through the growth of our firm and high retention rates of our client base.??

What’s something about real estate law that the average person and/or home buyer might not know??

Home buyers sometimes aren’t always aware of the complexities that are involved in each real estate transaction, which requires proper due diligence and oversight by their real estate lawyer.??

It’s important for home buyers to work with experienced real estate lawyers who are working in their client's best interests. They need to appreciate this value as opposed to focusing on the lowest-cost service that comes at the expense of quality of work and can jeopardize sales.??

Issues with lack of due diligence at the time of original purchase, for example, can present themselves at the time of sale, which can impact the price.??

How does Dye & Durham help your practice in terms of creating efficiencies and saving time and resources??

Dye & Durham’s Unity software has allowed us to operate on a paperless basis and fully in the cloud, which means our firm operates without a server, saving us money. It also provides greater flexibility for our team's schedules.??

This virtual approach has also provided our clients with the ability to retrieve their documents at their convenience. We also don’t need to spend time and money archiving boxes of paper transaction records.??

The Unity software integrates well with the land registry, lenders and title insurers, which has also allowed for greater efficiency in processing files.??

The Unity Pi feature allows lawyers to check in on their files "on the go," which is an added convenience. We also appreciate the customer service that Dye & Durham provides regarding the Unity platform. ?

What’s next in Korman & Company’s partnership with Dye & Durham??

There’s been significant development of the platform since the original inception of The Conveyancer, which was retired to make way for Unity. We’re really looking forward to seeing what Dye & Durham has planned for the future of Unity.?
