Customer is God but Client is a Child.

One day my son asked - "Dad- What is the difference between customer and client?" I paused and answered in a lazy way to my son that Customers buys goods and client buys services. But later i though a lot about this question.

Many times, we say "Customer is God". Never heard anyone saying, "Client is god". Why so?

I think a client is not God, but a client is a child. Whom you nourish with your knowledge. You try to start educating your child from the day one. You know your child is not understanding what you are trying to say, still you do not leave investing in them.

Sometimes your child behaves in a way which is not expected. You try to counsel at that time and educate them about the consequences of such mis-behave. With the pass of the time, your kids start understanding you and sometimes kids even understand what you have not said.

Same happens with the Clients as the relationship matures. As the time progress, your client starts understanding your thoughts even before you say those. You start trusting more the abilities of your client and you are also aware how mischievous can be your client.

On the other hand, Customers does not expect you to behave like Father. Infect customers are like God. God knows about us and our strengths. Similarly, Customers are more knowledgeable about their needs, and they also know the pros and cons of our products. they also know the competitors' products. They expect that we are honest with them while dealing with them. We never evaluate or doubt the competence of the God. Similarly, we cannot expect reason for rejection from customer.
