Buttons have been used from time immemorial. They have been found all over the world as well as ancient Greece and China. They have been made from metal, glass, wood, shell, plastic. They are decorative, useful and in times past have had monetary value, metal buttons alone were symbols of wealth and status. They have represented togetherness, strength, resilience and even protection.

A button gifted is acknowledgement by the giver of the nature and significance of their connection to the recipient.

My client approached me with the idea of creating buttons of sterling silver to share with her family members as a sign of their connection. These button pendants are the result of this collaboration.

Roll printed sterling silver discs were shaped by pressing them in a 20 ton press. Holes were drilled and then the bails and rings added. The final step was to give them an oxidized finish to see all of the details with in the roll printed pattern.
