Once in a while a gem or crystal will contain bubbles of water that got trapped inside the crystal as it grew. The most prized stones are those that contain moving bubbles, where there is an air pocket in the crystal and a little bubble of water can be moved up and down within the pocket. Others have water bubbles in them that are static and do not move.

This phenomena is called Enhydro and this one is in a quartz that a client brought to me to have made into a necklace. The bubble is tiny but it is there and it does move. A bit of specialized fitting to get the collar snug and the pendant is perfectly set to show off that bubble.
