Custom Network APIs

Mobile Network Operators all have their own unique requirements which are typically dependent upon the specific business models of the operator, emerging opportunities together with the MNO's specific network topology. As these factors change and evolve, sometimes in order to meet these emerging requirements?often some form of custom development may be?required.

For example, consider the case whereby a?tier-1 Mobile Network Operator would like to offer MVNOs the ability to reuse their core network (and sometimes RAN) but whereby they do not always want to provide a direct real-time interface into their core network.

This situation recently occurred whereby an?established tier-1 MNO?did not want to offer either (i) a direct PCRF provisioning API or (ii) 3GPP Sy PCRF interface to MVNOs who were hosted from their 3G and VoLTE/IMS core network. Instead the MNO was?looking for a way to monitor and control data throttling commands from these MVNOs and to ensure that these commands?adhered to the terms of the Service Level Agreement between the MNO and MVNO. Primal Technologies worked together with the?tier-1 MNO and implemented a DIAMETER "Gy-like"?client interface towards an MVNO interface network component, which stood in front of their core network, in order to allow the MVNO?to throttle their postpaid subscribers accordingly.

Primal Technologies also?provided a REST API to the MVNOs to allow them to specify subscribers to be throttled when their BSS determined that the subscriber's current data usage exceeded certain preset non-roaming and roaming data usage thresholds. At the next billing cycle, the subscriber's Data QoS would also be reset to their default value.
