Welcome to 'Customer Service & In-Between'.

Hope you are relaxed and in your favourite comfy place to read as I am positive it's going to be an interesting one as usual ??.

Most companies spend on average between 7-15% of their revenue on marketing and advertising( including digital) according to statistics.

Advertising budgets for a brand to put themselves out there in the eye of the public is such a big deal .

The sole aim of this?

To attract customers! Nothing more ,nothing less!

Imagine having the best products /services sit on your 'shelf' without anyone 'peeping' to see what you have on display...That would be horrible right ???

On the daily in the middle of some of our favourite programs on TV(for people like me that love Telenovelas and some other channels ??),they go on commercial breaks.

During this time various brand adverts are in our faces and often times people 'fall in love' with their products or services.

At other times it could be on billboards ,print media,social media etc.

The tricky part?Will these products/services sell themselves or move by themselves to customers?

Certainly NOT!

Imagine after all the advert,fancy marketing and spending whopping sums,it's now time for your customers to purchase your product and they encounter the rudest,meanest and distracted personnel during the process.

What do you think would happen???

Statistics has it that 75% of customers leave a brand due to discourteous, disrespectful and apathetic from company employees.

That's why exceptional Customer Service is important because of the human element,which can make or mar a brand's image and cause customers to churn thereby reducing sales.

As a brand how do your employees service your customers ?

Do they fit your company culture of rendering quality service?

Now we get to the crux of the day:

EMPATHY :

Empathy as depicted is 'putting yourself in the c?ustomers 'shoes.It's feeling their 'pain' and reliving their experience with your product/service with them .Show customers you care about their challenges and are interested and invested in assisting them resolve it.This enables them trust your brand and once they do ,they keep coming back for repeat patronage which helps your sales grow.

PROBLEM SOLVING :

Problem solving is an important skill that entails commitment to helping customers find ways to resolving different issues that they might bring to your attention.With great problem solving skills, issues are resolved effectively and efficiently leading to customer loyalty which translate to referrals that lead to sales growth.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE :

A positive attitude is the best cloak any customer facing person can wear.A friendly and approachable outlook towards customers goes a long way to make them feel welcome as if they were part of the 'family'.No matter how chaotic the situation may be ,a positive attitude reassures customers that you are happy they are there and not an intrusion which can come off through the wrong attitude or non challant body language.Maintaining a positive attitude makes the customer long for the next visit which means the customer will be back for repeat purchase that will impact on sales.

Basically,know what you are selling!!!This enhances customer confidence and impresses them to trust you enough to refer you to others because your brand knows its business.The referrals lead to an increase in sales growth and profis.

ADAPTABILITY:

Adaptability is being able to steer a ship or a plane through other paths on the sea or air in times of turbulence just like a captain or pilot would .It shows how versatile you are as a brand.Your ability to adapt shows customers you are abreast of the situation of things .It also entails adjusting your approach to meeting individual customer needs. In other words be flexible. This makes customers get the inkling that you are not 'stuck up' and are constantly improving on your product/ services, making them trust you more enough to become word of mouth ambassadors that drive friends and family to patronise your brand which plays an important role in your sales growth.

ACTIVE LISTENING:

Active listening gives a brand the opportunity to understand customer needs for a more tailored approach.Actively listening to understand their pain points to be able to resolve them in the shortest possible time.Actively listening to feedback and acting on them .This skill appeals to the emotions of the customers making them want to remain rather than go to the competition.This guarantees your Customer Lifetime Cycle (CLV) and an elongated relationship which has an effect on sales growth.

In summary the above tips and others we couldn't mention, will ultimately boost sales growth by way of:

?? Reduced churn rate

?? Increased customer retention

?? Referrals

??Brand Loyalty

??Brand visibility

??Life time relationships.

Customers tend to spend more money if they feel special and the service leaves them with that 'wow' effect.

Any organisation that takes Customer Service and customer experience seriously might soon have to rename their Customer Service department,'revenue generation department' like ?Shep Hyken likes to say.

Whether you are a restaurant owner or waiter, a technology start-up founder or UX designer or whatever profession you are in ,rendering exceptional service is no longer an option but a necessity.

Isn't that what we do? Take care of customers so they come back again and again? (That's a rhetorical question! ??)
