The curtain wall of terracotta --- Materials and applications

The products of terracotta used in curtain walls are generally divided into terracotta plates and terracotta pipe. The external surface finishs are as follows: natural surface, glazed surface, sand surface, groove surface and antique. In addition, It also provides more choices for architects in the colors.

Engineering technical analysis

In this article,we focuses on the analysis of the existing curtain wall project with terracotta pipe. The facade of the project adopts white glazed terracotta pipe. Three independent terracotta pipes form a unit through connectors, end assemblies and countersunk head self-tapping nails.. And then hung on the frames.

Because the terracotta pipes are brittle material, under the action of external forces during cleaning and construction, the whole pipes may be broken and fall off. Therefore, the inner wall of the terracotta pipes is lined with explosion-proof film, and an aluminum alloy tube with full length is added in the cavity.

This project is a double-layer curtain wall with aluminum cladding on the inside, maintenance plank road in the middle and terracotta pipes on the outside.

As the frame of terracotta pipes curtain wall, the ss cables are fixed on the circumferential steel beam which is cantilevered from the main steel structure.

Every fourth floor is used as a tensioning section, with adjusting ends set up and down, and other middle layers are sliding bearings.

After all the ss cables are constructed, each terracotta pipes unit are hung on the bolts, and the middle M5 stainless steel bolt is used for spacing to avoid the terracotta pipes unit falling off.
