As a teacher or tutor, how many times you were told to differentiate students’ learning? Did you manage to plan and deliver effective differentiated learning that meet your students’ learning and understanding abilities??
Even before we could plan for differentiated learning, how much do we know about our students’ level of understanding?
It is not your fault if you are unclear on the above. All of us have different levels of knowledge, especially for a teacher who has extensive expertise in his/her teaching subject. This is known as the ‘Curse of Knowledge’.?
It is extremely difficult for a teacher who is also a subject expert to design effective differentiated learning. When an expert teacher knows something, it can be hard to imagine what it would be like not knowing that piece of information. In turn, it is difficult to share his/her knowledge, as the expert teacher struggles to understand a student at different state of mind or level of understanding.?
Is there a one stop solution for a teacher / tutor who struggles to differentiate his learning that effectively meet the individual needs of his students’ learning??
