The curse of corporate innovation

Here’s an ode to the future shapers, the corporate rebels and the visionary executives!

If it feels uncomfortable, you’re probably doing it right.
If it feels good and comfortable, it’s probably the wrong approach.

If you want to shape the future while you work in a traditional organization, few will understand what you are doing and few will be able to help you make it happen.

Why? Because so many of your colleagues focus on managing the day-to-day business rather than shaping the future.

Why do they do this? Their bosses tell them to do so.

Why do their bosses do this? Because bosses are rewarded for managing day-to-day activities, they are more at risk of losing their jobs if they fail while trying to shape the future and often, they just don’t know how to shape the future.

It’s better for everyone in this game to play it safe rather than taking the risks. So, we are back to the beginning.

If it feels uncomfortable, you’re probably doing it right.
If it feels good and comfortable, it’s probably the wrong approach.

Your challenge is to succeed - yet alone survive -??in such an organizational environment. The irony is that everyone expects and rewards conformity, but you can only succeed if you think and act differently.
