Current tendencies around Power BI management and organization

LA FACTORY?

Provide "official" BI data ( SQL Lakehouse /DWH & Power BI) to consumers and datacitizens

• Supply? "official"? and "single source of truth" and "under governance"? data
• End to end ( Gold Analytic SQL star model --> Power BI)
• No worries , Power BI organization is still on Self BI , but quality is much better and under governance
• La factory is consumed by? data-citizens
• Remark ?: Composite V2 ?techno (aka Direct query to DS) is not currently relevant , on my opinion ( R.L.S & performances problems )
• Prefer to ?use IMPORT or DIRECT LAKE mode to feed the crossing model ?
• Take care to synchronize ?RLS & KPIs fomula

OFFER A ?BIG STAR SEMANTIC MODEL BY DOMAIN (mutiple data products as data source) ?

Here is an architecture (parent - children via perspectives) currently "under fashion" on large number of compagnies

Lots of advantages :

• Better to perfom maintenance (only one master / parent model to manage)
• Better for governance : Master semantic model is "single source of truth" compliant
• Provide few "thematic focused" perspectives (kind of view) ? to data citizens (reporting)
• Crossing? data products via a perspective is possible
• Global data products via perspective is possible
• Will be perfect if this one ?is managed by ?LA FACTORY TEAM (alway on self bi but strong governance & skills)?
