Results are out! How much did your son score in 12th grade? What is your daughter's NEET Score? The children are surrounded by these kind of questions as soon as the results are announced. Why are these people so keen and excited to know about the marks? Is it for comparison? If or otherwise why are these people so much concerned about marks? The simple answer is "Marks speak everything!" But is it so? No! Not at all! Marks are important only up-to certain extent and students should not be pressurized! Does it mean that a student who scored low marks will end up achieving nothing in his life? No! Certainly No!
In our country, admissions to colleges is based on marks which can be accepted as a parameter of consideration. So the marks of 12th grade decide in which college will the student land up! But at this stage a lot of other problems creep into! That is Caste System! The primary reason as to why education system in India is not up to the standard as it should be is the Reservation based on caste. A lot of students even fail to get into their dream colleges because of this reason!
The worst part is that some parents force their children and put pressure on them to score marks even in college. They fail to understand that skills are much more important than marks. The students need to balance their studies and develop their skills in parallel. It is a well known fact that technology is advancing rapidly and it is necessary to stay updated! It has become very much important for an engineer to be multi-disciplinary specialist.
The education system has to be revolutionized to bring out skilled , productive and efficient engineers and other graduates . We know that lakhs of engineers are being churned out from various engineering colleges across the country. Not all of them end up getting jobs! That is the reality. Unemployment is another major problem in our country.
At last I would like to conclude that it is very much important to develop your skills to be industry ready and at the same time concentrate on your academics. Be creative and innovative to contribute something to the society. Do not forget one thing! Hard-work and Smart-work have to mixed in proper proportion to bring out the expected result and be successful in your life.
