Currency Heroes

I recently went to Coin X in Pune, a premier destination for buying and showcasing old coins and currencies.

One of the interesting finds there was LIRE, a currency which was used by Italians.

I was struck by the marvellous notes, featuring Galileo and Marie Curie, one of the most important scientists who are known around the world for their work and achievements in their various fields.

How inspiring seeing these amazing people on the a currency must be, which basically showcases them and their contributions not just to Italian children but to the world.

In our world, could we also have currency featuring CV Raman, APJ Abdul Kalam or one of the so many scientists who took us to new heights?

Won't this inspire the next set of innovators, just like it must have in Italy when LIRE was in circulation?

People are inspired and affected by the people we look up to and see in our day-today.

It should be up to us to choose our heroes for not just our young minds, but for the world as a whole.
