A Curious Vision for American Humanity

A Curious Vision for American Humanity

Hey reader,

How honored I feel that you'd stop by to read my complicated thoughts! I do not consider myself a white collar corporate junkie, nor do I think of myself as an expert. I'm a growing florist, I'm a femenist, I'm a Latina, I'm a complicatedly deep thinker, I'm a coach, I'm a creative, I'm a mystic, I'm a question asker, I'm a human. I'm here because I have something to say, and I know you do too.

I invite you to be curious with me...

Here's what I'm thinking about.

I'm curious what America would look, feel, and be like if we chose to view each other as humans rather than objects, resources, or assets.

I'm curious what America would look, feel, and be like if we stopped competing with each other and began collaborating with one another.

I'm wondering how our work places and life priorities would differ if our framework shifted from being singularly preoccupied with self-serving career advances and instead integrated a collectivist framework, understanding that when the whole is healthy the individual is healthy and vice versa.

I'm curious what would change if we cultivated curiosity for the sake of curiosity rather than being curious for the sake of our own upward mobility.

I'm curious what would change if generosity became the forefront of our souls -- If generosity became infused in our actions and assumptions toward our neighbors, freely extended, knowing that it is truly more blessed to give than to receive.

I'm curious what would shift if we believed that the person across from us is worthy, unique, valuable, and deserving of being championed with no strings attached?

I'm curious what our convesations would look like if we stopped giving advice and started listening with empathy. Or what our relationships would be capable of if we could hold nuance more dearly and sacredly.

I'm curious what would happen if abundance was our framework rather than scarcity. If we weren't so concerned with "getting getting getting." If we found and implemented a holistic integration of giving and taking.

I'm curious what would come about if gratitude became the framework through which we saw every day. What would our souls shift toward? What creative capacities would emerge?

Or what would happen if our priority was love rather than being "right?" Or resting intentionally rather than constantly being burnt out? Or saying 'no' with kindness and 'yes' with intention?

What would come if we valued and trusted the voices of children, who are ever deserving of being heard and valued and seen?

What if beauty will save the world?

What if our intuitions are right?

What if the pain and restlenssness in our bodies is trying to tell us something and invite us to more?

What if... there just is more?

More to life... than just waking up every day and working from 9-5.

More to life... than trying to derive value from being busy.

More to life... than trying to prove ourselves so much that we don't ever actually show up authentically.

More to life... than sitting around gossipping about how things aren't the way they should be but not doing something about it.

More to life... than limiting beliefs and judgementalism toward both ourselves and others.

More to life... than climbing a ladder and living every. single. f***ing day on a hampster wheel hoping someone will notice us or clap for us?

More to life... than living for the opinion and recognition of others around us?

More to life... than needing to have all the answers or solve every problem?

More to life... than black and white rectangular offices that make us feel crammed and suffocated?

More to life... than not following through on our wild dreams?

I know there's more. And I'm guessing you do too.

It’s truly the last sentence for me in this article “what if the pain and restlessness…”
