The Curious Mind: Utilizing AI for Maximum Advantage

Tl;dr: AI is changing the way we think and write, but it's up to us to embrace it or not. We can gain a lot if we choose to use it well.

Like many people, I’ve been playing around with ChatGPT and a number of other new AI tools.

They are clearly game changers, but it remains to be seen how the game will be changed.

My CEO observed the other day that, “we’re now moving to an era where it’s not about knowing the answer or finding the answer, but can you ask the AI the best and right questions?”

The competitive advantage for the next area is the curious mind.

Can you look at something from multiple angles?

Can you explore how to pull back layers of meaning?

Can you dig into the depths?

As someone pointed out on Twitter, “we may be dumber because of GPS has removed the need for mastering maps, but we’re all probably better off.”

Writing is going to change-it already is changing. It’s easy to bemoan what will be lost.

But the AI is here. Embrace it or not at your own peril. Less obvious is what will be gained.

Summarized for 2nd grader

AI tools are helping us think differently and ask better questions. We need to be curious, explore the world and think about things from multiple angles to get the best out of AI.
