Be Curious in Interviews
#interviewtip for #candidates during #interviewprocess
ASK QUESTIONS
I ask a lot of questions that vary in difficulty for my roles. I strive to understand a depth of knowledge on the #NetSuite platform Blu Banyan works on.
During this time, many candidates don't know the answer to my questions or don't have experience in certain areas. Let me be clear - THIS IS OK! I have not found 1 person who knows every aspect of NetSuite. I have people who have worked on it for 14 years, someone who built Chrome Plugins used by thousands of developers world wide, and yet there is always something to learn from one another.
But if there is one #interviewtip I can give, it is to always ask questions. The candidates who I have who say "I am not sure. What is the difference between X/Y?" and ask me to explain, show me a level of #curiosity and a desire for #mastery that helps me get to know them much better. An educated guess is ok too, but follow it up with #questions if you are not sure.
The main #interviewmistake I see - confident ignorance. This is those who very confident in their wrong answer.
I get it, really I do, an interview can be stressful. We always feel we need to put our best foot forward and come across as confident and that we know what we are saying.
