The Curiosity WorkLife Tool.

For years I have been teaching the concept that to live a life that invites joy, fun and fulfillment we must be?OPEN?to our evolution.

AKA: the ebb and flow of our always-changing life experience and perspectives.

I have even gone as far as to say that while goals are important, it is in being?OPEN to your EVOLUTION ?that will ultimately result in WorkLife Synergy.

Being OPEN, for me, speaks to my ability to receive new ideas, thoughts, mind-sets, habits and ways of existing. It takes practice and intention to be open to all of those things. SERIOUS PRACTICE! Some days I do it better than others—my husband says I get too defensive when my thought process is questioned—and deep down I know he is right (most especially when it comes from him!). Ha! Good thing he doesn’t read my posts.

Yes I’m a work in progress. Aren't we all? Thank goodness... imagine how draining it would be to be perfect? Talk about pressure.

So tell me: ARE YOU OPEN?

Here’s what I am really asking you:

• Do you make choices based on?WHO YOU ARE?in the here and now or are you living through a mindset of what was or what will be?
• Do you buy clothes a size too small because you are going to lose weight in the next two months or do you buy the jeans that fit your body?RIGHT NOW?
• Do you get up, go to work, come home, go to bed and do it again the next day with a creeping sense that WHO YOU ARE and?WHAT YOU WANT?are so lost in the chaos of the everyday you don’t even know what they are anymore?

If you answered a “YES! that’s me.” or “Ya…um…maybe.” don’t worry. Being OPEN is simply a practice of mindfulness.

STOP.?Don’t get scared. I am NOT going to ask you to meditate….nope….not even for one minute…unless you feel you want to…then you should because taking even a minute to be centred can change your life trajectory (#yesitcan ). But I digress….

Being open is the practice of being CONNECTED with your own thinking long enough to receive your truth. To hear what your heart, gut and intuition are whispering to you.

For the overwhelmed and crazy-busy among us (sooooo most of us) this can be hard. Like really, really hard. I get that. Here is a simple tool that you can use right now to open up conversations with your heart and to start fuelling WorkLife Synergy.

BE CURIOUS.

Kids learn so fast because they are uninhibited in their sense of curiosity and wonder. They don’t think things like:

“Geez I shouldn’t be looking at this leaf with weird veins for so long….I think I’m wasting my time.” OR

“I really find Minecraft fun and interesting but do I have what it takes to learn how to be good at it?”

Kids learn how to master new things so quickly because they spend all their energy and excitement on wondering what they can do….not what they can’t do. THEY ARE OPEN!

Inspiring isn’t it?

With the chaos of life we get easily disconnected from our sense of curiosity. We wander and wonder less. We often rely on forced logic to make choices —that lead us down a path less than fulfilling.

Being OPEN connects you with your truth---> truth that is revealed by curiosity.

CURIOSITY INVITES POSSIBILITY. CURIOSITY MANIFESTS GROWTH.

3 TIPS FOR BEING MORE CURIOUS

1. Accept the invitation.

If your interest is tweaked (especially more than once!) take some time to learn more about whatever it is that’s interesting you. No matter where it takes you there is a reason WHY you are being called to investigate.

2. Use curiosity when dealing with people.

All forms of judgment closes our minds to being open. From coworkers that frustrate you to family members that drive you crazy…view who they are and how they make you feel with curiosity. This will invite the possibility of growing from your relationship with that person. And YOU want to grow right?

3. Ask questions.

Anyone who spends 5 minutes with a 4 yr old knows that curiosity is nurtured by the question, “WHY?” Kids learn so quickly because they are always asking why and how. Intentionally listen and ask questions when chatting with people throughout your day—it’s amazing what you can learn about others, and YOURSELF, when you simply ask more questions.

Engineer an elevated life experience by using CURIOSITY as a tool for growth. It's more fun too (we all need more fun!).

Life doesn't have to be so hard. I promise.
