Philosophers, poets, and even ordinary men speak of an emptiness, a void, inside the human heart that cannot be filled by anything of this world. Money, power, status, or anything worldly for that matter cannot fill this emptiness in the long run.

The Qur'an teaches us that only God, our Creator and Sustainer, can truly fill the void permanently. By connecting with our Creator, by making Him the center of our lives and minds, and by doing consistent good deeds out of gratitude and love towards Him, we can find true peace and rest.

Like all other things in existence, the void also serves a purpose. The purpose being to bring us back to God. But sometimes we suffer from the delusion that worldly things can make us truly happy and whole. Hence, we chase one thing after another, but nothing ever truly fills the emptiness, the void.
