Curate your feed

So how do you do that?
Well there are a few things you need to consider.
Your feed will be full of posts, shares, and comments from your network. Company page posts, some recommended content, any hashtags that you follow and sponsored ads will now appear in your feed.?
It can be noisy, overwhelming and triggering at times.?
So bear these things in mind:
?? Your own social activity
The more you comment, like and interact with - the more of the same type of content will appear in your feed.?
For example, over the past week I’ve been commenting and liking lots of the #marchofthemummies content, and guess what - the algorithm is showing me more.?
So if something is not interesting, scroll by. If you comment because you don’t like something, the algorithm will show you more of that stuff that you don't like.
If you find any content offensive then you can report it.?
?? Unfollow, remove, report or block
If you don’t like a certain person or their posts, you can 'unfollow' them.? This will stop their content appearing in your feed, but you will still be connected.?
If you wish to remove them as a connection you can pop onto their profile and remove, or on their post in the feed click on the 3 dots at the top right hand corner and click 'remove'.?
'Report' allows you to flag any inappropriate content to LinkedIn.? Be warned they are a bit slow, may take the post down or say it doesn’t break the rules.
Also don’t ever be afraid to block somebody, I use it as a safety button. I have quite a few people that I’ve blocked over the past couple of years.?

?? Improve my feed?
You can use this option for any sponsored content (i.e.) ads. Again click on the 3 dots, and it will give you an option to ‘Improve my feed’ where you will be given the option to select some recommended companies to follow based on your current activity and follows.
?? I don’t want to see this
This allows you to tell the algorithm that you don’t like the content, or if you’ve already seen it in the feed.?
?? Who are you connecting with?
I’m much more selective about who I actually connect with than I used to be. If you don’t have a profile picture then I will probably choose to ignore your connection request.
I also unfollow people regularly as I am constantly curating my feed.?
I’m not interested in drama, trolls or having an argument with a random stranger in Texas. No thank you!???
Mostly my LinkedIn feed is a happy place and I enjoy being on the platform.?
It has taken time to curate but it has been worth it.? I want my feed to be a happy and inspiring place with some fun thrown in for good measure.?
Don’t forget that engaging everyday is the most important thing you should be doing everyday on LinkedIn to build your presence and relationships.
If you are reading this, thinking ‘I need to leverage LinkedIn but I’m not sure how to’ and you don’t know where to start with your content, engagement, audience growth or even curating your feed then please do get in touch.?

2 年Great advice, thank you. As a new user (well, a returning user really) the feed can seem very overwhelming at first. LinkedIn is a far noisier place than I remembered

2 年I love this. I've already started to be picky about the people I connect with, but I love all the other tips. I'll be implementing these from now on! ??
