Curate Content to Create Curiosity

Curate Content to Create Curiosity

Being visible on the LinkedIn platform helps you to be found via a LinkedIn keyword search and be top-of-mind when opportunities arise. In today’s lesson, we’ll discuss how you can respectfully use someone else’s article for your purpose.

When you share someone else’s work, always create a win for the author by tagging them and sharing their article in the best possible light. As with all your online interactions, add value for the original author, the readers, and yourself.?

To share, paste the URL into your post and you will see it populate the image associated with the article, the article title, and a few introductory words. Once that happens, you can clean up your post by removing the URL because it has already done its work. Now it’s time to add value with your comments. Here are some ways to create curiosity and encourage your audience to read further.?

Method 1: Summarize the article. Look for clues in the introductory and closing paragraphs of the article you want to share. If you find a concise summary there you can either pull it and use it in your post by adding quotation marks or can paraphrase it.?

Method 2: In a list article, select the point that resonates with you most strongly. Put your selected point in quotation marks and address your comments to that point.

Method 3: Select a key sentence, put it in quotation marks, and attribute it to the author.

Take a look at your post before publishing it.

  1. Does it add value to the original author through your attribution and tag?
  2. Does it add value to readers by providing them with something interesting to learn from?
  3. Does it add value to you by showing you to be thoughtful about something that relates to your brand?
  4. Is your post grammatically correct?
  5. Have you deleted the URL from your post after it has done the work of generating the thumbnail image and article information?

When you have checked your work and are satisfied with it, you are ready to click POST to send it to the homepage feed. Consistently posting good content in a way that creates curiosity contributes to your visibility online.
