And the CUNA National Award winners are…

Our National Awards Committee announced the 2022 award recipients this week. Each year state Leagues help the committee to identify credit unions and organizations for the:?

  • Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award, which honors credit unions for outstanding social responsibility projects in their communities.
  • Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award, which recognizes credit unions that demonstrate the internal application of credit union philosophy to help better financial matters and increase financial education for its members.
  • Desjardins?Adult and Youth Financial Education?Award, which honors credit unions, chapters, and leagues for their commitment to both youth and adult financial literacy.

These awards shine a light on the exciting and inspiring ways that the people helping people philosophy is used to advance communities, and I love reading their stories every year.

Join me in congratulating this year’s winners, and I hope you’ll be inspired by their amazing creativity and dedication in bringing the credit union difference to more people.

Credit unions gather in D.C. for fall roundtable

Thank you to all who joined us in Washington, D.C., this week for the CUNA National Credit Union Roundtable. Leaders from the nation’s largest credit unions gathered to dialogue with our CUNA advocacy team, industry experts, and agency leadership and provided?us with valuable input on how CUNA and Leagues can continue to be your champions in 2023 and beyond. My team and I are grateful for the candid feedback and great conversations we had and look forward to continued conversations about what we can do to improve service to members.

New opportunities in the new Congress

I wrote about the opportunities for our movement in the new Congress in CUInsight this week. Our members need us fighting on their behalf regardless of who holds control of each chamber or committee, and we’re positioned to get things done. The next Congress will have a credit union-friendly majority, and they will be our partners over the next two years as we push for important credit union priorities.
