CUNA-League system is most credible trade association in D.C.

The CUNA-League system is the most credible trade association across all industries in Washington, D.C., according to Ballast Research, a top research firm that measures advocacy effectiveness.

Ballast Research found that we maintained or improved our effectiveness in every key advocacy activity it measures, from grassroots activity to accurate research and data illustrating how policies impact consumers.

Not only does CUNA and the Leagues engage with local, state, and federal policymakers, but we also collaborate and communicate as a united front to make sure our message resonates. That’s a testament to not only the power of the credit union difference, but our ability to show its impact.

I’m proud of this because it means the CUNA-League system brings the voice of our members to the people who need to hear it and we remain responsive to shifting priorities.

This recognition is only possible because of dedicated credit union leaders like you who tell your stories, dig deep into the data, and passionately advocate on behalf of your members and communities.?

Interchange amendments excluded from draft Senate NDAA

The Senate is moving forward with its draft FY23 National Defense Authorization Act without either of the troublesome interchange amendments we fought to exclude. Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Roger Marshall, R-Kan., tried to attach these problematic amendments to legislation that funds our military. Thank you to all those who raised concerns with your elected officials, making it clear that service members deserve a military-focused funding bill without tacking on the interchange bill that hasn’t seen a single Congressional hearing.

Condoleezza Rice to speak at 2023 CUNA GAC

I’m thrilled to have the chance to share the stage at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) with a previous colleague of mine, 66th Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice! She’ll join me Feb. 28 for a conversation featuring stories and insights gleaned from her trailblazing career. It was a privilege to work alongside her in President George W. Bush’s cabinet, and I’m excited to talk with her.

Leagues celebrate CUKind, CUForward Day

Shout out to the Illinois Credit Union League, Michigan Credit Union League, Minnesota Credit Union Network, and all credit unions that participated in CUKind Day and CUForward Day this past Monday. Thousands of volunteers spent the day supporting their communities, committing random acts of kindness, and saying “thank you” to the people who deserve it most. I saw some great photos and activities on social media, and it was a great way to highlight “people helping people” while also having fun!
