Cumorah Academy Teaching Model Part 1

Cumorah Academy Teaching Model Part 1

One of our recent graduates said the following:

“After three months of being at Cumorah Academy I realized that this place is not an Academy, it is a “MIRACLE”. It changed my perspective of life and what I want for my future. Not only in my career, but also in my personal life and at church. This place inspired me to be the best version of myself and helped me discover my true potential. It’s a place to get the core skills and habits we need for our life and careers.”

The Cumorah Academy teaching model allows us to create and give this type of life-transforming experience to our students each and every semester.?

Our focus at Cumorah Academy is to help students grow in competence & resilience in various areas of life including Spiritually, Emotionally, Socially and Temporally. We do this in many ways. For the next few weeks, I would like to share more about the 4 key elements of our learning model which are our:

  • Principled & Experienced Mentors
  • Unique, Immersive Campus Experience
  • Caring & Qualified Faculty & Staff
  • Engaging Proprietary Curriculum

Today, I want to focus on the Cumorah Academy Visiting Mentor program. Each week we bring to campus a principled and experienced couple who shares our values and vision to teach, mentor, engage and advise the students. These mentors teach a portion of our leadership curriculum and incorporate their own life experiences into engaging lessons. However, the real magic happens as these mentors then mingle with students during mealtimes, activities and as they meet with students 1-on-1 to discuss each student’s goals and plans. Each Visiting Mentor plays a crucial role for our students and serves as a bright example to follow.?

Our former Cumorah Academy student, Jo?o Banks shared the following:?

“I never thought it'd be possible to gain so much knowledge in such a short period of time. But the incomparable experience of interacting with wise men and women from around the world enlightened me both professionally and spiritually.”?

Our student experience would not be complete without the help of our amazing mentors. While each Visiting Mentor helps create this life-changing experience for the students, the one-week experience has also been life-changing for those mentors who have come to campus. A few of our former mentor couples shared the following about their experience.?

“This was a life-changing experience. Going into this experience you can easily get caught up in the idea that you are there to teach and save the students, but in reality those students saved us. Nothing that I have ever done compares to this”?

“Mentoring at Cumorah Academy was a life-changing experience. We were taught by the students, and their faith is inspiring. There is a good feeling on campus of how good and kind the students are to one another. This felt like a Zion-like experience, it felt as if we were on holy ground.”?

“I felt like I found a new mission in life. This is a phenomenal program for students in Europe. Cumorah Academy has a really great spirit. This is a place of transition and learning, a place of healing to gather themselves physically and spiritually. Cumorah Academy is a place of conversion.”?

I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to the wonderful people who have dedicated their time to mentoring students from our previous semesters at Cumorah Academy.

My time as a mentor at Cumorah Academy was one of the most impactful times of my life! I was touched by the students and the entire environment which I have never experienced in any other place I’ve visited.
