Culture Keepers: What Makes Delta, Delta
Celebrating Shari and Anne for an amazing 45 years with Delta

Culture Keepers: What Makes Delta, Delta

While I participate in plenty of amazing events with Delta people, there is one that holds a special place in my heart.

VELVET is Delta’s ultimate employee experience, where our frontline people travel from across the globe to connect with their colleagues and leaders. The series began back in 2006 while Delta was emerging from bankruptcy - those first VELVETs were just leaders and employees gathered in an empty department store building in Atlanta. They were the first of many honest conversations about the company we loved. Seventeen years later, we’ve gotten a little more advanced, but those same honest conversations remain.

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles where over 500 of our employees came from far and wide to connect, learn and have fun over two days at VELVET.

During the first day, there was plenty of time for our people to speak with their divisional leaders, but also to relax and mingle at a special rooftop party led by our employee event staff known as the “VELVETEERS.” You haven’t experienced energy until you see one of our VELVETEERS dancing and welcoming employees to the ballroom at 7 a.m.

The next day is my personal favorite, as I get to kick things off sharing the latest on what’s going on at Delta and hearing direct feedback from our teams. I also share some special surprises, like celebrating Shari and Anne for their amazing 45-year careers at Delta.?

I also love the opportunity to join a selfie line where I get to meet many of our dedicated and hard-working employees. I’m always touched when I see the photos on LinkedIn or Instagram later on in the day. The attendees spend the rest of the day with more keynotes and even a few games with grand prizes before we all head back home.?

It's been 32 days since I filed a complaint to get refunded for $3000+ in Delta tix I had to buy after Delta cancelled my international flight from Italy to JFK & told me there were no more flights for 48 hrs. When I found one, on Delta, I bought the last 2 tix. Delta refuses to pay for them, and when I check status of my complaint, this is what I see:
