The first country, I am picking up for #cultureandcognition series is Sweden. This is because how the word 'Lagom' has changed my perspective of life, ambition and learning. Being too ambitious, too friendly, too optimistic, too hardworking - this 'too' was always a description of my life. Hearing a term coined for 'balance' for miraculous for me. I come from a learning culture which is very competitive. 92 out of 100 marks was considered not good enough in my academics. So, how does this lagom state work ? How a learner can define 'just right' amount ? And then looking at the brands originated from Sweden, the quality and class : from retail brands, banks, electronic to applications & much more : the ability to appeal global audience, the adoption of minimalist theory which is part of the culture of the land. Great design, simple capability and reasonable pricing - has produced such fantastic brands to the world.
Now jumping into the concept of Culture and cognition , here are the 4 questions & my views on the same.
?-> what's the unforgettable historic moment that impacted the society ?
-> what's the value system that emerged from this cultural influence ?
-> what's your observation on learning style in the society ?
Sweden is one of the world's oldest sovereign nations, with a 1,000-year history. This Scandinavian country is also the eighth-oldest kingdom on the planet and it was founded by Eric the Victorious in 970 AD. Since 1917, the country has been a constitutional monarchy with parliamentary democracy. Evolving from this history, facing the Northern war, age of Vikings, Swedish has emerged to the blissfulness of simplicity. Learning style in the society has just two elements : simply the best & equal for all.
Here is an interesting interview with Robin Ljungqvist on Sweden's #cultureandcognition
Eager to hear your views on the history, evolution of culture and learning style in Sweden society.
