Culture at Argent: My first AQM

One of the best things about working at Argent is the opportunity to work in a fully remote environment. We believe in empowering our team with flexibility and autonomy, allowing individuals to shape their workdays according to their preferences. This is complimented by a special tradition, Argent's Quarterly Meeting (AQM) – once every four months, our team, scattered across Europe, comes together for a week of collaboration and connection. This in-person gathering offers us the invaluable opportunity to bond, strategize, and explore new horizons collectively.

As Argent continues it's upward trajectory, we're excited to pull back the curtain and offer you a glimpse into the world of working at Argent. In this blog series, we aim to paint a vivid picture of what it means to be part of our growing team. In our inaugural edition, one of our most recent new joiners, Ela Baser , gives us her thoughts on what her first AQM was like.

Ela’s AQM

I joined Argent about a month ago and recently had the chance to attend the company’s quarterly retreat (AQM), which typically?takes place three to four times a year in various locations across Europe. Previously working at two fully-remote companies, I was used to attending offsite retreats and valued in person time with colleagues, but Argent's AQM culture exceeded my expectations by far.?Not only the productive working sessions, but particularly how much time and effort was put into creating a comfortable, fun, and easygoing environment for each employee to connect with one another, naturally leading to stimulating discussions and cross-team collaborations.

The four-day event included a company-wide strategy session, product milestones review, and roadmap planning. Days featured updates from growth, engineering and design teams, retrospectives, and presentations on topics like establishing a ubiquitous?language?across the company for higher?efficiency and scalability and the psychology of gamification. Smaller brainstorming sessions and free time were incorporated daily, including a wine tasting event and a cozy dinner at a nearby town on day?three.?The retreat concluded with closing words, including shout-outs to celebrate individuals and collective achievements.

Brains ?? hard at work!

As a newcomer, I found the sessions very inclusive, collaborative, and, most importantly, geared towards impact.?I really enjoyed learning?more about my coworkers' diverse backgrounds and interests -- from thought provoking conversations on AI and biotech to psychology and art to travel and food. Also the?retreat's location was ideal, offering beach walks, hikes, group activities like gym sessions and?sauna, and fun evenings with lively foosball and table tennis matches. We were even able to go surfing one day!

Just a week?post-retreat, the momentum is very tangible, with?discussed ideas quickly materializing.

Feels very exciting to be with a group of Argonauts who are very smart, fun, intellectually stimulating?and share the same motivation towards?building a future in web3!
