Culture Advice For The End Of The Year

Culture Advice For The End Of The Year

Well hey there, welcome back to another Culture Junky LinkedIn Exclusive. After wrapping up my blog series on hard-hitting company culture stats last week, I want to shift gears now and briefly talk about a few different things as we approach the end of the year, starting with the importance of team events.

I know that in addition to many teams doing quarterly culture outings and events, I tend to hear more and more about events scheduled around the holiday season whether it be a team outing in early December or sometime closer to the start of the new year.

Whatever kind of event or outing you decide to do, regardless of whether you’re all going out for happy hour, or throwing a holiday party at the office, all of those are great, and I think most people would agree that they tend to help friendships form among your team member. Generally afterwards what I hear from leaders I meet with is that during and after the holiday season we tend to see a heightened sense of camaraderie throughout the office.

My message to you today is that you can get the same kind of benefits that come from those outings and get-togethers throughout the year. Obviously things like a holiday party may not make sense but there are plenty of other opportunities to build that camaraderie among team members.

Whether it’s going out for happy hour, going to a sports event, maybe even some sort of team bonding activity like an escape room; all of these things help build connections that will fuel your organizational culture.

So think about it, The Culture Junky sure will. Be good to each other out there and have a great weekend.

Great reflection. Keep it sticky for the whole year.
