Cultural identity connects: support council member and NDP leader reflect on shared history

A chance meeting between me, as a politician and support council member of DENK Vlaardingen and the Surinamese politician and parliamentary group leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Ricardo Panka, moment of reflection, in which shared history and experiences formed an informal basis. We were able to briefly reflect on the common challenges that both Dutch and Surinamese society experience, such as social developments in relation to the role of the Surinamese diaspora. This meeting led to a personal connection, based on shared cultural values, traditions and identity, which can certainly be expanded in the future.
