Culture is that which shapes us; it shapes our identity and influences our behaviour. The term “culturally diverse” is often used these days but what does it mean. Cultural diversity is about appreciating the society is made up of many different groups and people.
Food is a symbol of civilisation, and food habits are part of the cultural flow. Cultural Diversity is a great impact on cuisine from ancient time. West Bengal is one of the Indian states which shares the maximum numbers of international boundaries like Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. The length of the India-Bangladesh border is 4096 kilometres which are the highest to boundaries sharing with neighbouring countries.
Bangladesh has a lot of influence from the Bengali cuisine of India. Bangladesh” is derived from the Hindi name for the Bengali country. The difference between Bengali and Bangladeshi cuisine is not that much especially cuisine from the southern part of Bengal and Bangladesh. Both the parts having a similar kind of surface (flat) which helps them to produce similar crops and herbs. Both the regions are having a lot of rivers and coastal areas which incline them towards having a lot of kinds of seafood. Bangladesh and the southern part of West Bengal are also known as “River Country”.?
