Excerpt from the teaching by Wisdom Grace titled, “Basic Bible Study: Key Qualities of Church Conduct (Based on 1 Peter 3:8-9),” we delve into the essential qualities of church conduct that every believer, as part of the church, is called to embody. Drawing from the teachings in 1 Peter 3:8-9, we explore the significance of being like-minded, compassionate, tender-hearted, humble and exercising brotherly love within the Christian community. These qualities are not merely suggestions; they are fundamental characteristics that should define our interactions with one another as a church and with the world around us, reflecting these godly attributes.
Finally, all of you be of one mind
We are instructed to be of one mind. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all, according to Ephesians 4:4-6. The church is more than just a group of individuals; it is a unified body of believers who share a common faith and purpose. We are reminded that our thoughts and actions should align with the teachings of the Bible, fostering an environment where everyone thinks and speaks in accordance with the views, values, and vision of Scripture and the Spirit.
Having compassion for one another;
Compassion is a vital quality that we are encouraged to embody as a church. It is essential to share in the feelings of others, whether they are experiencing joy or sorrow. By demonstrating an understanding of what fellow believers are going through, we nurture a caring and supportive community where everyone feels seen, heard, and helped. Biblical examples of compassion, such as the story of the Good Samaritan, illustrate the importance of caring for those in need and suffering, as well as being a present help for one another during difficult times.

Love as brothers
Love is the foundation of our relationships as believers. We are called to love one another sincerely, in truth and with purity of heart. This love should not be limited to mere words; it must be demonstrated through our actions. As we interact with fellow believers, our love should be evident, serving as a testament to our faith and drawing others to the message of Christ.
Not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing
In addition to discussing what we should embody as a church, we also highlight the behaviours we need to avoid. It is essential not to repay evil with evil or engage in slander. Instead, we are called to bless those who may wrong us, reflecting the grace and mercy that God extends to us.
As we conclude, we are reminded that embodying qualities such as one-mindedness, compassion, love, and humility require intentional effort and reliance on the Holy Spirit. Together, we can cultivate a church environment that glorifies God and showcases His love to the world as we act and interact with one another as a united body of Christ.
