Cultivating Hatred

Hatred is ill will or resentment that is usually mutual prejudiced hostility or animosity (“Old Racial Prejudices & National Hatreds”) Peter Thomson.

Hate comes from the idea that certain people can or should have power and control over others. These ideas come from our history where certain people took power over others.

Hate is assumed to develop when some mistreat or humiliate others, or whose deliberate actions have become an obstruction to other's goals (Aumer-Ryan & Hatfield, 2007; Baumeister & Butz, 2005; Royzman et al., 2005; Sternberg, 2003).

Hatred may not ever go away. It is a powerful force that can consume people. However, it is possible to learn to control hatred and not allow it to be in control.

The Bible warns that “in the last days perilous times will come,” saying that men will be lovers of themselves, as well as unthankful; unholy; unloving, and without self-control and brutal (2 Timothy 3:1–5). It reveals that a “root bearing bitterness” or hatred would settle (Deuteronomy 29:14–19).

The Bible forbids hatred (Leviticus 19:17–18), which is the spirit of murder (Matthew 5:21–22). Children must be taught to love and not to hate, yet the world will not truly learn the way of peace…
