In recent years, SADC has shifted its focus to building a regional infrastructure to facilitate trade, investment, and economic integration. This includes initiatives to improve road, rail, air, port, and telecommunications infrastructure, as well as energy infrastructure and greater access to modern technology. In addition, the organization has launched several regional initiatives to increase access to finance, such as the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan.?

SADC, or the Southern African Development Community, is a regional economic community of Southern African countries, established in 1992. It currently consists of 16 member states, including Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

SADC is committed to achieving economic development, peace and security, and poverty eradication by harmonizing regional policies in order to develop a competitive regional economy.



The strategic objectives of SADC are to promote economic growth and combat poverty; build human and social development; ensure peace, security and stability; and promote a sense of common identity and solidarity among the people of Southern Africa.?

However, based on the latest available information, the construction industry in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region had a market value of approximately $140 billion in 2017.

Additionally, the region Is expected to see significant growth in its infrastructure sector, fueled by investments from the public and private sectors as well as external aid. According to the World Bank, infrastructure investment in the SADC region will be an estimated $215 billion in 2020, with a further estimated $72 billion to come from external sources.

This investment is projected to significantly improve connectivity among the countries of the region, while also helping to reduce transportation costs and provide access to energy and other essential services.?

In closing ,Increased collaboration and coordination among SADC member states working together more closely to better manage and coordinate infrastructure development projects and making better use of existing funds can also fast track all member states to fulfill its infrastructure mandates.
