SECOND PHASE CUBAN NATIONAL SERIES
The regular season of the 57th Cuban National Baseball Series should have ended on October 3rd this year, but was extended until October 21 because of rescheduled games that had been cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. Each team is scheduled to play 45 games during the second phase of the season or pre-play-off phase, between October 26 and December 23, 2017. Any cancelled games will be played between December 25 and December 23. Roster supplementation is scheduled for December 28th, and the semi-finals and finals are scheduled to be played between January 4 and January 24, 2018.
As of November 1, Havana’s Industriales are in first place, but are barely holding on to their lead by one game. Pinar del Rio, which appeared to be the team to beat during the first half of the season has slipped and is in danger of falling to 6th place. Matanzas continues to look good, with great hitting, pitching, and base running.
